Autumn silver bush
When we designed the Permaculture Farm in Skovvirke (see Åter 2/24) it was important for us to have evergreen cover around the house and the intensive food forest. This is where we spend a lot of time outside in the spring, before the deciduous trees get their leaves, and in the food forest we grow exotic trees such as peaches and apricots that bloom as early as March. The choice fell on a hedge of autumn silver bush, which also fulfills many other functions in the overall permaculture design and therefore creates many useful connections.

Our path to permaculture agriculture
Eight years ago, we received permission from the municipality to create a cooperative of six small permaculture forestry farms of 1 1⁄2 ha each on 11 ha of agricultural land. Here we tell you about our journey to sustainable self-sufficiency and how we organized it on our own farm.
